ISDA addresses Congress, New York Fed on industry efforts

ISDA continues to take the lead in addressing regulatory questions around the OTC derivatives industry. On June 9, CEO Robert Pickel testified in Washington before the US House of Representatives Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Regulation Committee on Financial Services.

European Accounting Policy letter to IASB

ISDA’s accounting committee has a long history of interaction with accounting standard setters, in particular with the IASB and the FASB. Regular committee meetings provide ISDA members the opportunity to anticipate some of the contingent issues at stake in the work of the IASB.

Three Criteria for Policy Reform

Last month, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner announced a comprehensive regulatory reform proposal for the OTC derivatives markets. The proposal is an important step toward much-needed reform. We welcome the recognition of industry measures to safeguard the smooth functioning of our markets, and the need for the continued availability of derivatives custom-tailored to users’ needs.
