Reauthorization
US Congress has been working on reauthorization of the Commodity
Exchange Act (CEA). On December 13, the House Agriculture
Committee passed out of committee legislation which would
reauthorize the CEA for seven years. In the Senate, CEA
reauthorization was added as an amendment to the Farm Bill.
Now both the House and Senate will consider similar (though
not identical) reauthorization provisions as part of the
House-Senate conference on the Farm Bill, expected to be
completed by Spring.
