Caruana Leads Keynotes at AGM 2005

Jaime Caruana, Governor of Banco de España and Chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, will provide the opening keynote address at ISDA’s 20th Annual General Meeting in Barcelona.

Thursday’s keynote address will be delivered by Robert E. Diamond Jr., Chief Executive, Barclays Capital, Chairman, Barclays Global Investors.

ISDA’s First 20 Years

2005 is a very special year for ISDA, and indeed, the entire derivatives and risk management industry. It marks our 20th anniversary as the trade association for the privately negotiated derivatives industry. Our industry has come a long way since ISDA was incorporated as the International Swap Dealers Association in 1985. At its inception, ISDA comprised 10 members and operated out of a single office in New York. The notional amount of U.S. dollar swaps activity (the only activity for which data was collected at that time) totaled about $100 billion.
