DEMYSTIFYING DERIVATIVES SEMINAR FOR JOURNALISTS

 

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association invites journalists to attend its free seminar, Demystifying Derivatives, in Tokyo on Monday, July 12, 2004. Offered exclusively to members of the media, the seminar will explore basic and intermediate-level topics related to derivatives and financial risk management.

 

The seminar will include a roundtable Q&A session with leading market practitioners, including ISDA Board members. Please note that all the day’s events are off the record. The material will be presented in English only.

 

WHAT:           DEMYSTIFYING DERIVATIVES SEMINAR FOR JOURNALISTS

The seminar will feature the following discussion topics:

                                               

w              Derivatives Products: An overview of various derivatives instruments: interest rate, currency, credit and commodity derivatives.

 

w              Applications of Derivatives: How financial institutions, corporations, municipalities and investors use derivatives to manage risk.

 

WHO:             Dr. David Mengle, Head of Research, ISDA, and Associate Professor of Economics and Finance, Adjunct Faculty, Fordham University Graduate School of Business in New York, will lead the course.

 

                        ISDA Executive Director and CEO Robert Pickel will join leading market practitioners, including ISDA Board members, in an informal Q&A session following the lecture.
