Print Agenda 2021 ISDA North America Conference for

9:15 AM Registration and Continental Breakfast

10:00 AM Opening Remarks

10:10 AM Keynote Address

A senior legislator will set out the policy agenda fr the rest of 2021 and into 2022.

10:30 AM A New Regime

Eleven years after the passing of the Dodd-Frank Act, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s security-based swap rules are about to come into force. What implications will this have for derivatives market participants, and how will the new regime interact with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s rules? How has the industry approached the systems and documentation changes necessary for compliance?

11:15 AM Networking Break

11:35 AM Standardize and Digitize

ISDA’s first natively digital definitions – the 2021 ISDA Interest Rate Derivatives Definitions – will come into effect in early October. What impact will this have on the interest rate derivatives market, and what’s the next step in the shift to digital legal documents and definitions for derivatives? What is needed to fully automate the derivatives trade lifecycle?

12:20 PM Interview

A guest speaker talks with ISDA CEO Scott O'Malia.

12:45 PM Lunch and Networking Break

1:30 PM Chairman Remarks

1:40 PM Keynote Address

A senior US policy-maker will outline US regulatory priorities for the coming months.

2:00 PM Approaching the Finishing Line

While 30 LIBOR settings will either cease or become non-representative at the end of 2021, US dollar LIBOR will continue for a further 18 months – albeit with limits on new use. What will this mean for institutions with outstanding US dollar LIBOR exposures? Is the market ready to use alternative benchmarks?

2:45 PM Networking Break

3:00 PM Improving Regulatory Reporting

Regulatory reporting requirements have been hampered by a lack of consistency in standards and data fields. How are regulators in the US and elsewhere responding, and how can ISDA’s digital regulatory reporting initiative help?

3:45 PM Derivatives Policy Issues in Emerging Product Areas:  Carbon and Crypto Trading

Derivatives markets are emerging in two high-potential market segments:  sustainable finance and digital assets.  With these opportunities comes a number of questions for market participants:  can, and what will it take for, carbon and/or crypto trading to develop  into institutional asset classes; what is being traded now and by whom; how and by whom will crypto and carbon derivative transactions be regulated?

4:30 PM Conference Concludes

Agenda is subject to change.
